Completely green to an supposedly old experience
Track: Buttonwillow Raceway Park
Configuration: Counter Clockwise #13
Vehicle: 2004 Mazdaspeed MX-5
Date: April, 2014
It has been close to two years since the last time we raced at Buttonwillow for the 24-hours of LeMons. Neither our body or the car enjoys the extreme temperatures at the Central California Valley, or simply too far from where we are. Our turbocharged MSM just doesn’t like the heat.
This time around we thought its about time to pay a visit, and if we don’t go in April the next window to avoid the heat would be in November. So off we go.
It turned out the temperature was in the mid 90s during the day under an intense sun.
At the beginning, we thought Config CCW#13 is nothing new to us, we did spent hours and hours during the 24-hours of LeMons lapping the track in a 80hp 4-spd Sentra. However, the experience was completely different this time around. Not only our MSM has 3 times the power, 2 extra gears, rock stiff suspensions but also we had a brand new custom alignment done, and along with a proper racing seat and a 6-point harness strapping us in. We felt like we have never been here before, nor remembering the rough pavement.
